First Kiss Poll – Results II

A while ago I published the results of a poll on when people had their first kiss. At the time I said I’d come back to the poll again later if it accumulated more votes. Today, with a further 8 votes since the original results post, I will see if the initial results and my conclusions stood up under a larger poll participation. Here’s the original post:

You may remember a while ago that I made a poll, asking people at what age they had their first kiss.Well, I decided to count the results now.

The median age, it turns out, is 15. I thought it was strange that absolutely nobody had their first kiss at 17, 18 or 19, which suggests to me that either you have you first kiss early, by 16, and those that don’t then turn into ‘late bloomers’, who don’t have their first kiss until they were out of their teens.

It could be that the failure to get a first kiss by 16 means that people then end up not having confidence through their main teenage years (main years relationship-wise) and so don’t have their first kiss until they are no longer a teenager, as their confidence grows now they don’t worry about relationships as teenagers do. Either that or I just didn’t get anybody who’d had their first kiss then by chance.

Anyway, the poll is still open if people want to vote, and if people do vote after this post, then maybe in a few weeks time I can look again at the results and see if it changes or not. Anyway, here are the full results:

When did you have your first kiss?

Answer Votes Percent
Earlier (please specify) 2 20%
14 2 20%
15 2 20%
16 2 20%
20 2 20%
17 0 0%
18 0 0%
19 0 0%
Later (please specify) 0 0%

Again we have the trouble of nobody specifying the ealier age, so again I will take that age as being 13. Surprisingly, the results pretty much exclusively follow the earlier results. Again the median age, and substantially the most common age, with 33% of the votes (and 17 – 16 combined making 72%) This suggest the same conclusions. Here’s the results in full:

Kissing, Or Lack Thereof

Closer together they do move
Closing their eyes in anticipation
Ready for the kissing groove

Their lips lock in a warm embrace
They linger, for the enjoyment
They part, savouring the feeling

I look away
I cannot watch
I wish I could experience
That warm embrace

Here I am
Nineteen years
Without the feel
Of a woman

Time stretches out before me
With no end in sight
To my inexperience
To my coldness

When did you have your first kiss? I’ve not had mine yet (as you can probably tell from that poem), and was wondering at what age most people have theirs. Please take my poll: https://anonymousteenager.wordpress.com/2011/01/06/first-kiss-poll/

First Kiss Poll

I’m 19 and I am yet to have my first kiss, and I was wondering what the average age people (generally) have theirs. So I’ve set up a poll that I’d really appreciate if people voted on – I’m sure you’d find it interesting what other people put too. Thank you for voting 🙂

My First Kiss: But Does It Count?

On Friday I went to my local pub with a few friends. Well, I say a few friends, what I mean is two female friends and one guy who is barley tolerate in front of his face but hate in reality. But I digress. Anyway, at one point we started talking about relationships and I (as usual) made my point that “I’ve never kissed a girl, boo hoo! Who cares, really?” At that point one of the girls obviously decided that she’s heard this whining one too many times and she went to kiss me, and I turned towards her and obliged her in this action. It lasted a mere two seconds and was so sudden that I barely had time to register what was going. So I’m wondering, does that count?

I didn’t have time to register the feeling of what kissing is like, and it was simply her pressing her lips to mine quickly, with no more action than that. Okay technically that is a kiss, but in my view it doesn’t ‘count’ as such, because it didn’t involve any thought or much concious recognition of what happened.

So no, in my view, it doesn’t count as my first kiss, but like it or not it kinda was: what does everyone else think? (Not that I’m expecting to receive any comments on this post, but just in case I’m wrong, I’ll put it anyway.)

First Kiss? Almost

When I went to a small party the other day, consisting of just a few friends from college, I got pretty drunk. Probably the most drunk I’ve ever been. But that’s not hard, considering I’ve only been drunk once before. In this sorry state I started saying all manner of things which was on my mind. One of these I particularly mentioned was the fact I’d never kissed a girl before. Then one of my (female) friends, who I was talking at the time, almost kissed me right there and then, but luckily decided against it.

I say luckily because, like I’ve said before, I want my first kiss to be meaningful, first of all. Secondly, kissing friends is weird so I didn’t really want to do that – complicating a friendship like that would be awful. Lastly, probably the most important one, is that I’m sure that if she did kiss me while we were both in such a drunk state we probably would have kept it up the whole night (relativly speaking) which would just magnify any complicating effect it would have on our friendship. I’m pretty sure it wouldn’t have gone any further afterwards, so the fact we avioded it is good.
