The Caterpillar

See the caterpillar
Sitting on his leaf
Munching away stolidly
Concealing his grief

He sees the beautiful butterfly
Flying through the air
The caterpillar munches on,
Secretly, he’s in despair

He watches it with it’s friends
Drinking rich nectar, having fun
His body goes green
He’s easily outdone

It wishes it was a butterfly
Gracefully fluttering by
But he knows he will never be
He munches on, with a sigh

He know he has a defect
That does afflict him so
That keeps him as a caterpillar
He must make peace with woe
