An Island Of A Man

If a tree falls in the wood, does anyone hear it?
If a man goes through life without love,
Does anyone care, if he should die?

If a man is an island, what is his purpose?
Especially an island out of sight of the main
Why, all his steadfast defence will be in vain!

If a man does not have somebody to love,
What it the point of his life, may I ask?
Why should he ever have existed, at all?
